backyard astronomy notes — planets, alignment, imaging, and waiting for clear skies.

An observing log that escaped the notebook. I write down what worked and what wasted a clear night, mostly so I stop making the same mistakes.

The gear is modest: a small refractor, an old equatorial mount, and a planetary camera that has seen better days. Topics cluster around planetary imaging, polar alignment, and the slow art of waiting out the seeing.
